“Wisconsin doesn't look kindly on the weeks that slip in between the death of cold and the birth of warmth.”- Seanan McGuire
The Residence (Netflix)
There’s a murder at the White House and Detective Cordelia Cupp is here to watch birds and find out who done it. I’m going to need you to watch this show immediately, it feels like a combination of Poirot and Knives Out. Uzo Aduba plays my favorite kind of detective, which is an eccentric one and I absolutely loved it and I think you will too.
Beginner Ballet Barre (YouTube)
Life comes at you fast, one day your attending one of your multiple dance classes a week and then all of a sudden its been thirteen years and you don’t dance anymore and flexibility is a thing of the past. Well I’m taking ballet again and by that I mean I’m dancing in my living room. I started with the video I linked and I’m loving it, at the beginning of the month my joints were tight and I was very rusty but I’m starting to improve. I love the combinations, it feels simple and challenging at the same time, all you need is a sturdy chair but I’m thinking about putting a barre in my utility closet…
The Cardamom Bun at Daegens (Ivan Bjørndals gate 25)
Cardamom buns are insanely popular here in Norway but I’ve always found them to be a little underwhelming, until now. I went to the newly opened bakery and coffee shop Daegens, and I was shockingly surprised by how delicious their cardamom bun was it was sweet and chewy and I think they must add a little lemon juice to the dough that balances it perfectly.
Izakaya
Somehow this restaurant has been open for thirteen years and I’m just getting to it and now I’m mad. What have I been doing!? This little slice of Japan in Oslo is exactly what I needed, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely and I can’t wait to go back.
“The pop culture podcast for smart people who love dumb stuff.” Is their tagline and as an avid pop culture consumer and podcast listener with particular opinions on what I like in a podcast, I’ve become obsessed. It’s funny and insightful but also well researched. I have to thank my friend Rachel who made this absolutely perfect rec to me, thanks lady!
Poem For The Reader by Alex Dimitrov
A beautiful piece.
John Green on Wild Card (YouTube)
I love John Green and this interview with him on The Wild Card podcast was fantastic. He discusses his new book Everything is Tuberculosis (very excited to read) as well as how he fights the feeling of despair that occasionally comes with simply being a human.
A great interview with one of my current fashion gurus. She makes me feel better about leaning into my personal style, even if my brother says I look like a “founding father”.
This is the story of Shimia Nord, an eighteen year old from Duluth Minnesota who’s dying. Recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and given only months to live and all she wanted to do was celebrate with her friends. Life is so short and this story is devastating and also tells the story of such a generous young woman.
Japanese Breakfast’s Michele Zauner
An interview with Michele Zauner on the heels of her band’s latest album aptly titled For Melancholy Brunettes and Sad Women ( also something I recommend). I really loved her book Crying in HMART and am really looking forward to her next book, she really captures grief and life in such a realistic way.

Don’t forget your coffee,
