The Holdovers (Sky/Showtime)
I finally watched this movie and ooh boy it was amazing. Such a perfect winter/ Christmas movie to watch this season. It was hilarious, devastating and truly heartwarming. I love loved loved it and I’ll probably be watching it again very soon. I get the awards and the hype and if you haven’t seen it either I definitely recommend you add it to your roster for December.
Past Lives (Prime Video)
Crying, screaming, throwing up. Again another movie I missed seeing last year that was completely fantastic. It was so beautifully shot and performed, this movie felt gentle and achingly sad. I think it really artfully depicts life and love and loss.
The Bear Beer
This lager from Åbro Bryggeri is delicious, if I’m honest I picked it up because it was a VERY good deal and there was a bear on the can. You could drink it with anything and I really believe that. If you’re a beer drinking and happen to be in Sweden you should buy some!
Lush Dive (Thorvald Meyers Gate 19)
Lush Dive is a stationary store and if there’s one thing I love it’s stationary and writing utensils. Give me your all of the paper, pens and pencils, my favorite the Ticonderoga Black. This store is an absolute delight and I could spend the entire day laughing at their greeting cards. If you haven’t been, go!
Yellowface by R. F. Kuang
Oh my what a wild ride of a book, a dark and twisted peak into the publishing industry. Our main character is the definition of unreliable and I really enjoyed that! If you like books and crazy, you’ll like this one.
This website publishes excellent visual essays on a range of topics on things like music, climate and travel and tons of other things. Click over and take a peak.
If you’re looking for something naturey to listen to might I recommend Earth FM. It’s a collection of nature sounds from all over the world, want to listen to some baby raccoons, rain in the forest or possibly cranes on a lake? It’s a really great site and an excellent alternative to scrolling like a maniac or stress listening to another podcast.
The Merry Gentleman (Netflix)
A truly outrageous movie that I was sat for every second. Netflix really said “what if Magic Mike did small town Christmas?”. Chad Michael Murray is still just as handsome as he was in 2003, so if that sounds like something you would be into watch while making cookies.
Brie tarts, where have you been all my life? My friend Dayna made some for book club and they were incredible. The recipe Dayna used didn’t have pears but instead topped with fig jam and oh my I’m still thinking about them. I’ll be spending the rest of the year eating almost exclusively these.
