Påske aka Easter is when Norway really shines. Norwegians really love Easter, not so much in a religious way but in a spring awakening kind of way. It’s a week long celebration full of food, wine, murder mysteries known as Påskekrim and giant eggs full of candy. This tradition of reading and watching murder mysteries started about 100 years ago and I love it. Påske is my absolute favorite time of year, here are just a few recommendations of my favorite things to watch.
Poirot
Agatha Christie’s Belgian detective Hercule Poirot is a much watch this week, sorry I don’t make the rules. Of course the classic episodes like Murder on the Orient Express and Death on The Nile are good choices, but my favorite is season six episode four titled Dumb Witness. Available to watch here in Norway on Brit Box and TV2 and in the US on Amazon.
The Residence
I know I recommend this show last month but I really need you to watch it if you haven’t! It’s the perfect whodunit kind of mystery to watch this week. Detective Cordelia Cupp gives major Poirot vibes and this Shonda Rhimes production is truly chefs kiss. Available on Netflix.
The Killing
Based on the incredible Danish series this show is so so good. There’s four seasons to watch so maybe a little more than a weeks worth but if you haven’t seen it, I definitely recommend it. Available here on Disney+ and Netflix in the US.
Another Agatha Christie classic, this 2015 adaptation of her book is so good. Incredibly chilling and moody, ten strangers on an island what possibly could happen? Click to watch the first episode!
God Påske
Happy Easter
